Health: physical and cognitive rehabilitation with virtual reality and data from every session
The person really walks on an omnidirectional platform, wearing a virtual reality headset and sensors that record how they move. Every activity is measured and the professional reviews it on their dashboard. Developed with the University of Salamanca for the rehabilitation of people with neurological injuries and disorders.

- What we measure
- Response time, score, distance, steps and calories for each activity
- Where
- Rehabilitation centres, clinics, hospitals and day centres
- What for
- Physical and cognitive rehabilitation, and sports training
- With whom
- University of Salamanca, University of Valladolid and the SIVI Cluster
Three limits of conventional rehabilitation
Few professionals for many patients
In Spain there are more than 120,000 strokes a year and fewer than 30% of people receive specialised rehabilitation. The therapist’s time doesn’t stretch to everyone.
Therapies with little personalisation
The same exercise for different people, and progress noted by hand. Without comparable data, nobody knows what works.
Training gait safely needs space and supervision
On Alsis Omni the person walks without leaving the spot, held by a harness that prevents falls, and the platform records every step.

The person walks in the virtual environment and the system records every movement
An omnidirectional platform with a safety harness, a virtual reality headset and motion sensors. The software creates a digital twin of the person that reproduces their real movements in the virtual environment and stores paths, times and patterns for the professional to analyse.
Five activities- Orientation
- A maze you follow a flag through to reach the goal. Works on spatial perception and concentration.
- Postural control and throwing
- A basketball court: score as many baskets as possible in five minutes. Works on balance, coordination and postural strength.
- Memory
- Find matching pairs of objects in chests and clear six levels. Works on working memory and cognitive agility.
- Coordination and precision
- A bow to shoot the balloons that appear in the scene. Works on visuomotor precision and response speed.
- Risk prevention
- A walk through an industrial facility with moving machinery. Works on attention, anticipation and safe decision-making.
- Patients, activities and sessions on a web dashboard, with the metrics of every session.
- The professional’s assessment after each session, with notes.
- An assistant that suggests the most suitable starting activity based on the condition, mobility and cognitive status entered by the professional.
Equipment for rehabilitation and wayfinding

Alsis Omni
Physical and cognitive rehabilitation in virtual reality, with every session recorded.

Indoor guidance with no beacons and no building work, with a route for each person: wheelchair users, blind people or older people.

With the University of Salamanca we have developed the motion capture and processing system on an omnidirectional treadmill, its replica in a digital twin, and the virtual reality environment for the rehabilitation of people with neurological conditions (project supported by ICE and co-funded by the ERDF, file 04/23/PA/0004). With the University of Valladolid we are working on the analysis of brain signals with portable EEG and brain-computer interfaces. Next lines of work: more activities, biomedical sensors (EMG, EEG, smart textiles) and a more realistic biomechanical twin.
Health, in a nutshell
Is Alsis Omni a medical device?
No. It is a platform for capturing and analysing movement in immersive environments. It is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease; clinical decisions are for professionals.
What is recorded from each session?
Response time, score, distance, steps and calories, the professional’s assessment and progress between sessions.
Which patients is it designed for?
For physical and cognitive rehabilitation in neurological and orthopaedic conditions, starting with the mildest degrees of impairment. Also for sports training.
Does anything need installing at the centre?
The omnidirectional platform, the headset and the software. We install it and train the team.
What about data privacy?
Encryption, access control and hosting in the European Union. GDPR-ready.
Where do we start?
With a demo at your centre or at our premises in Palencia.
The platform’s modules
Alsis Omni is organised into modules for professionals and centres.
Omni Move
Motor training: gait, balance, coordination, strength and range of motion. Integrates with motion platforms and sensors.
Omni Cognitive
Exercises for attention, memory, executive functions and inhibitory control.
Omni Kids
Activity and learning goals for younger children.
Omni Pro
Professional dashboard: session set-up, comparison between sessions and report export (PDF and CSV).
Alsis Omni is a technology platform for capturing and analysing movement in immersive environments. It is not a medical device and is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease. Clinical decisions are exclusively for qualified professionals.
